Information for New Parents
At R E S we understand that the move to a new school can be a daunting and sometimes scary process, not only for the student but for the parents. To help with this transition our Year 6 Coordinator, Mrs Taylor, visits as many of the students as possible at their primary school and speaks to them about the move and answers their questions. The students have the opportunity to list their friends that they would like to be with when they are sorted into their tutor groups and every effort is made to accommodate those requests.
During July the students attend RES for two Induction Days. During these two days they will get to try out some taster lessons, take part in some team building activities, do a scavenger hunt around the school site, meet members of their vertical tutor group and of course meet lots of new friends. The students are supported throughout by Year 9 Mentors and at the end of the two days there is a disco where students can relax and have fun with their new friends, the mentors and RES staff.

RES is a mixed, secondary school in Walton-on-Thames with 924 students on roll and 152 in the Sixth Form. As an enterprise school we have very strong links with local businesses and offer a wide range of enterprise activities to our students.
