RES Sixth Form College subject/course options

At RES Sixth Form College, we offer students a broad and flexible range of options. Here are the main points you need to know about the subjects and courses we offer.

• AS subjects are taken in the first year of study and, if successfully completed, the A2 course can be taken in the second year. The structure of AS courses means that students will study three units leading to the award of an AS qualification if successful. Pass grades are A-E.

• The structure of A2 courses means that students will study three units leading to the award of an A Level qualification if successful. Pass grades are A*-E.

• Applied AS Levels are unit based vocational courses, and may lead to a three or six unit qualification. The three unit course is equivalent to one AS Level, whilst the six unit course is equivalent to two AS Levels.

• Each Level 3 BTEC course is equivalent to one A Level in terms of the programme of study.

• The Level 2 BTEC First National Diploma is a vocational course equivalent to at least one GCSE grade A*-C.
