RES Open Evening 2016

RES opened its doors to students from a wide range of local primary schools on Tuesday 20th September for its annual Open Evening.

The event is always a great occasion allowing different faculties to show off what their subject has to offer and students have the opportunity to take part in a whole range of different interactive activities. This allowed them to complete their ‘RES Passport’ and entitled them to a special prize at the end of the evening.

Science showcased a range of experiments, including using dry ice in some fantastic demonstrations. In Food visitors could design their own cakes to have as a tasty treat and when leaving DT they had produced a keyring to take away with them. There was also the opportunity to use some of the energy from their cake when taking on RES students in the sports challenges offered by PE.

As well as visiting all of the faculty areas, parents and their children were treated to a tasting provided by our caterers, a chance to see the plans for the new build and also to talk to current parents who make up our PTA and Parent Council. There was also the opportunity to hear more about RES joining The Howard Partnership Trust and learn about the exciting plans for this academic year and beyond.

The whole evening was a big success with parents leaving feeling very positive about RES and children expressing how much fun they had getting involved in all of the activities on offer. None of this would have been possible though without the work of staff and fantastic support of well over 100 of our students. Their input ranged from delivering speeches in the hall, acting as tour guides and showcasing what different faculties had to offer. They were wonderful ambassadors for the school and highlighted the benefits and what being a student at RES is all about.

We look forward to seeing the Year 6 students who visited when the new academic year gets underway in September 2017!
