Year 11 Parents letter

Dear Parent/Carer

Thank you for your continued support over the last half term, especially in preparation for the ‘Big Interview’ and the first assessment period of Year 11. Discussions with students, RES staff and parents have clearly shown that the majority of our students have had a dedicated and focused start to all aspects of the academic year.

On Thursday we held the Year 11 ‘Big Interview’ where every student had the opportunity for an interview on a career of their choice with one of our thirty interviewers. The covering letters and CVs the students produced were of a very high standard. Students commented that the experience was extremely beneficial and that they were able to develop and practise skills that will be useful throughout their careers. The interviewers commented on the professional manner in which the students conducted themselves and the well informed responses they gave.

Over the last half term, the ‘Prom Points’ committee have carried out research with members of their tutor groups, attended several meetings and created a proposal that has been approved by the Senior Leadership Team. I have attached the finalised ‘Prom Points’ criteria and if you have any questions about the allocation of these points, please contact me via the school office. The first prom points’ update will be after half term and will give students their initial scores for attendance, behaviour and contribution to wider school life during the first half of the Autumn term. Prior to academic tutoring on the 24th November, students will receive a further update that takes into account their performance in the assessments they have just completed. Subsequent updates will be issued at the end of each half term and then more regularly from the start of the Spring term until the deadline on the 19th May.

Once again, thank you for all your efforts and support since September and I would like to wish you and your sons or daughters an enjoyable and fulfilling half term holiday.

Yours faithfully,

Mr R Blackiston
Head of Year 11
