Post WEX and tutor set letter

Dear Parents/Carers,

I would once again like to thank you for your support of the work experience programme at RES. Feedback from employers described our students as having ‘a great work ethic’ and making ‘valuable contributions’ to the companies they worked for. It has been a pleasure to hear about the experiences that the students have had and I am delighted that the majority of RES students were able to take advantage of this opportunity.

In October 2017 all Year 11 students will experience the ‘BIG Interview.’ This is an event where students participate in a mock interview with an employer from the business world. In order to prepare for this they will be writing a CV and covering letter and I am confident that the opportunity to complete work experience will enrich this process.

In order to ensure a smooth transition into Year 11, the current Year 10 will move into their new tutor groups on the 10th July. During afternoon tutorial on the 10th July there will be an assembly, at this point the Year 11 programme will be explained to the students and they will receive information regarding their new tutor group. You will receive an email on this day informing you who your son/daughter’s new tutor will be.

With the exception of morning tutorial on the 10th July, sports day on the 13th July and the last day of term, students will spend both morning and afternoon tutorial times in their new tutor groups. During these tutor times the students will discuss the prom points system, review their performance in their Pre-Public Examinations (PPEs) and set targets for Year 11.

If you have any further questions regarding work experience please do not hesitate to contact me or for further information regarding Year 11 tutor groups please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Taylor, next year’s Head of Year 11.

Yours faithfully

Miss K Armstrong
Assistant Headteacher
